Linn Benton Community College

Linn-Benton Community College (LBCC) is a public, two-year community college. LBCC has 4 campuses with our largest located in Albany, 11 miles east of Oregon State University in Corvallis.

LBCC offers associate degrees and certificates in more than 60 programs of study including engineering, business and computer science.

Each year there are approximately 400 international students from over 25 countries that attend LBCC.

Students choose LBCC for the following reasons:

  • Lower tuition that is approximately half the cost at a university
  • 2 years at LBCC + 2 years at any university = 4 year Bachelor Degree

School curriculum summary

LBCC is on a quarter system consisting of 4 terms: Fall, Winter, Spring, and Summer.

Each quarter is typically 11 weeks in length. See our academic calendar for dates.

  • Students may select from several degree options:
  • Associate of Science:  a degree that transfers to Oregon State University.
  • Associate of Arts Oregon Transfer: a degree that transfers to any Oregon university
  • Associate of Applied Science: a degree intended to lead students to employment in a specific career or technical program.
  • Certificates: a certificate of completion for a specific technical career.

LBCC has an English language school, the English Language & Culture Institute, located on our Albany campus for students who want to work on their English skills before entering academic level classes.  

Our average class size is 20-25 students.Small class sizes allow teachers to get to know their students and give more individualized support!

We offer many services to students to help them succeed:

Our Learning Center offers assistance in reading writing and math, hours are available for assistance in physics and chemistry. You may sign up for up to three hours of free tutoring a week during the school year.

Our faculty are teachers dedicated to student success. All faculty have master degrees and some have doctorate degrees.  LBCC currently employs 484 faculty members who are well connected in their field.
All of our credit courses are listed each term on our website through the Schedule of Classes. Courses with a number of “100 or higher” are transferable to universities.

Students can start at LBCC to earn an associate degree and transfer to any university to complete a bachelor degree.

LBCC does not offer on-campus housing, however, there are apartments, houses and rooms for rent in the area. Many of our international students live in Corvallis and use the loop bus for transportation, a free service with a student ID card.

Destination Graduation  is a new student orientation class designed to help students be successful from the start. Students are assigned an academic advisor to support them throughout their studies and provide comprehensive education plans.

International ambassadors are available for peer mentoring and support for students.

Weekly culture tables are a great way for students to connect and share their culture. LBCC also has over 30 clubs available that students can join and become involved in.  .  

Free public bus transportation is provided for students between Corvallis, Albany and the surrounding communities.

Many support services are available to students to help them succeed. Our Learning Centers offer assistance in reading, writing, math, physics, and chemistry. All students have access to three hours of free tutoring per week.

The LBCC/OSU Degree Partnership Program is great for students! International students admitted to OSU can access classes and services at both LBCC and OSU. This program offers many benefits to help students be successful and save money! The close proximity of locations allows students to easily take classes at both LBCC and Oregon State University.

To be admitted to LBCC, you must be 18 years old or have earned a US high school diploma.

You must complete and provide the admissions application.  You will find the complete checklist of documents required to be accepted on page 2 of the application.
